The condition of one who is capable of working, actively seeking work, but unable to find any work. It is important to note that to be considered unemployed a person must be an active member of the labour force and in search of remunerative work.

India has been facing a significant challenge of lack of proper employment for many years. Despite being one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, India has not been able to create enough jobs to meet the demands of its growing population.

There are several reasons behind the lack of proper employment in India. One of the main reasons is the slow pace of industrialization and the failure of the manufacturing sector to create enough jobs. The service sector, which has been the primary source of job creation in recent years, has also been unable to create enough jobs to meet the growing demand.

Another reason for the lack of proper employment in India is the mismatch between the skills of the workforce and the requirements of the job market. India's education system has been criticized for not adequately preparing students for the job market, and as a result, many graduates are unable to find suitable employment.

In addition to these factors, there are also structural issues such as the prevalence of the informal sector and the lack of a robust social security system, which further exacerbate the problem of lack of proper employment.

The Indian government has been taking several initiatives to address the issue of lack of proper employment, such as promoting entrepreneurship, encouraging foreign investment, and providing skill development programs. However, these efforts are yet to yield significant results, and the problem persists.

Overall, addressing the issue of lack of proper employment in India requires a multi-pronged approach, including the creation of an enabling environment for businesses to grow and create jobs, investments in education and skill development, and the development of a robust social security system.
